A spigot allows for easy drainage of Bokashi Juice. This waste liquid can be diluted for use as a plant food or used need to clean drains with its beneficial micro organisms.
Bokashi Composting allows you to recycle all manner of food scraps, paper and tissue into valuable soil improver in a matter of weeks. Dairy, meat, fish, cooked and processed food can all be recycled in this way. Simply add to the bucket daily, along with a sprinkle of the activator (a mixture of beneficial bacteria and sawdust). The scraps ferment into a product safe to bury in the garden or on a conventional garden compost heap.
With two Bokashi Kitchen Composters you can leave a full bucket to ferment for a full fortnight before burying in the garden (under a thin layer of soil or compost). If you only have one bucket, simply bury when full. It is ideal to leave the waste to ferment further but not critical as all the organisms to promote fermentation will be buried along with the waste so promoting its very rapid breakdown once in the soil.
Until recently Bokashi Compost Buckets have been sold at between $60 and $70 so it is great that they are now so significantly reduced in price.
